Hi peeps! Here's a little gift. Last week, as you might know, i was in Santo Domingo for Dominicana Moda 2011 and LOVED Jose Duran show. So, i decided to do an interview for The Wild Magazine. You can see a bit of what he said to me.

What he thinks there is too much of, and too little of: There is too much of the same. Right now, it’s like everyone wants to be everyone else. We need to find out who we are and just be ourselves. It’s what makes us stand out, being different, individuals, human beings.

What he would do if he was the president: I would let everybody be free. It would be chaotic, but that’s fun, right? It’s not always about the future, maybe we can find our answers going back 1000 years and maybe stay that way for to see what happens, what I can use to save the world. But, my slogan would be “Let’s all be free!”

What kind of movement he would like to start: A more loose and non-structure one. Once, I read that there is a certain edgy bravado emerge in my work. I think that my movement would be enigmatic, relevant taking great things from the past to make them contemporary. These things will be on top of this foundation: stay true to a history more than a type of person you want to dress.

Reverón: Color Blindness

Like a month ago, i went to an exhibition of especially selected items used in the film of venezuelan artist, Armando Reverón. From paintings to little feathers you could be able to feel the energy of it. Days later, i attended a forum where Diego Rísquez (director of the movie) and Luigi Sciamanna (actor who played A. Reverón character) were discussing some ideas around three short films, one of them made by venezuelan filmmaker Margot Benacerraf. I bet you didn't know that his [Reveron] teachers, up in Barcelona, were the same as Picasso and Dalí.

Benacerraf's documentary gives a depth broad of what "El Castillete" [Reverón and Juanita's place in La Guaira, Venezuela] was. This film may seem spooky for its editing, music and image choreography. But is the "madness of Reveron" which gives the less frightening twist... Or it could be a realistic visualization of what was happening inside his mind the early days.

Locals afirm that Juanita was the love of his life, but they were never married, living -presumably- without any sexual activity for over 30 years.

It also shows the artist doing a self-portrait in front of the mirror. If you see that, you believe that it was filmed at its most insane phase, but the opposite happens: It is said that by then, he was an appeased kind of person and less histerical.

These dolls were his actual models. Rags who lived at his own place with the same life that he had provided them. Day or night, in calmness or briskness; his work is pure intoxicating impressionism.

In 1910, Reverón arrived to the School of Fine Arts of Caracas (well known as Escuela de Bellas Artes de Caracas). Later on, he went to Spain for two months and came back with huge influenced by Goya and some [Ignacio] Zuloaga air in his art.

He once said, "I like this city so much, because at night the mystery is teeming while thousands of prophecies are fulfilled," referring to the streets of Caracas. His work has been labeled as a 'naked exclamation' with fluidity feeling. Burst of light that occurs only at noon and the landscape becomes blurred, as well as women and actions carried out in such a supersaturated atmosphere.

The soundtrack of the movie "Reverón" is yet a fantastic piece of art too, including colaborations with Devendra Banhart and Luigi, the lead actor who also sang "Niña Dulce" -one of the most beautiful lyrics i've ever heard. My friends and i are obsessed with this one- written by Alejandro Blanco Uribe.

For years and years, musicians have been associated with fashion -we know that, right? click here, here, here and here-. From Jimmy Hendrix to Lenny Kravitz, from Bob Dylan to Beck. It's so pleasant to see their participation in the game of trends that is inconsistent, and somewhat conformist, going around saying that only the "lucky ones" who live in New York, London, Paris, among other cities with the most stylish and on-trend civilians make easy the ride to pull out nice outfits. Yes, you probably thank these chic locales but it doesn't mean you have to settle down. Use your idols as well as i use mines, perhaps Freddie Cowan and Theo Hutchcraft, because at the end of the day this is basically the information used by some fashion editors in their creative process. It's just a cycle.

Here's some advice i found on WWW, "...dear readers, we suggest deciding ahead of time exactly what you want to buy—and who better to inspire your shopping list than today's quintet of stylish celebrities? [in this case musicians]. Next time you're ready to make some wardrobe investments, consider recent looks, and we promise you'll make smart buys in a snap!" Remember, if you are what you eat; you dress what you listen.

Sorry for ignoring MFW SS2012, but i was focused on Resort 2012 and writting articles for the next issue of OD Novias. However, finished my "Answered Prayers" book -actually, only three chapters (I wanted more) and narrated by P. B. Jones, who worked very close with Truman Capote during his last years-. Also, I blame my missing posts because of my lack of respect for PR agents inside italian fashion houses -judging by the kind of people in the public-. A truthful source told me that most of them [the outsiders that i'm talking about] were not even bloggers. Where's the respect about serious fashion prophets (stylists, editors, buyers, photographers, writers)? Insurance for this very reason Anna [Wintour] stopped attending menswear shows, when we all know she did not miss at least the most important ones.

Boo's work is that rare thing: a brand new approach that you feel must have been done before, but hasn't.

If you're comparing this work with The Maccabees' cover from their second album, then yes, you're found out who did that. "Barefoot and wearing ill-fitting second-hand clothes (generously provided by Boo), we closed our eyes for fear of splashes and waited for the first wave of paint. We felt a bit like hostages on a firing line, except it was enjoyable and exciting, even as the cold emulsion seeped through to the skin. For me, at least, the face painting was the most bizarre part. We liberally applied barrier cream to stop blood poisoning and skin rot, but as the paint dried and pulled tight, it felt wrong! It was a taste of what it must feel like to be Cher. This done, and with the photograph hopefully in the can, we washed it all off. This took rather a long time." (TheGuardian)

This time around, I went on board on a fascinating, sexy and utterly chic journey into the future... Or past, i should say. If someone said i would be doing streetstyle work back in the 80's, i guess i would have laughed all.

A few days ago, I found myself watching Flashdance for the thousandth time and paying attention to Jennifer Beals' styling as Alex, I realized that, well, it could have been designed by a french voguette. Don't you think?

Starting from the green parka, with a simple white tank top; a pair of skinny jeans, socks and red pumps, passing through a lacy coral body to finish it up with a black halter tuxedo... not to mention the shimmering dress during her night out at the ballet. Alex, is definitely a style icon.

I'm not sure if i already posted this, maybe not -in fact, i think there's some traces on Tumblr with my face on it-.

I first met Russian Red's Lourdes Hernàndez about two years ago, while she was doing a show and press tour in Venezuela. I was working as a producer on a radio show and had the opportunity to schedule an interview with her through a friend who connect me with some people in charge of the spanish gang in here, randomly, because i didn't know that he didn't know that i knew them... You follow me, right? The funny thing is, my very good relationship with Valentina, a journalist who ran the thing up. So, during the interview, I asked if i could give her a gift as a souvenir of our country, but not a simple one, i want something able to remind her the really talented venezuelan people. She answered, "yes!". I almost died.

Wow! Just got a day to design and make the strapple dress in a very smoothie pink ombré. You're probably thinking -Oh right! Big deal. It's the most simple dress that i've ever seen- But it was difficult for many reasons, not to discuss this time. Next day, I went down with another friend to visit her in the hotel where they were staying at. They had been at the beach all day and I could not believe that we were talking to her, sitting in the lobby. She (Lourdes) told us that she was super tired but excited about all the places she had visited in just three days in Caracas. I gave her the white box, she opened and then yell this out, "Oh my God! It's Perfect. I love it! I'm going to wear it at the concert." She made the moment very memorable.

I must say it was one of the best feelings you can ever feel as a professional ~~or a dreamer~~ trying to achieve some place in the fashion world, indeed. She said my name between songs and luckily for me, journalists heard it all wrong, because the next day were many reviews splashed on different newspapers (important ones) AND i was named under another lastname. I guess, s*** happens, huh?

Always find it funny to tell the same story and see the same photo over and over. Makes me feel like Tom, one of Briget's (Jones) friends, who always find himself remember the moment that he reached a pinch of fame. I'm not saying that i looooved my 5 minutes of fame, as I said above, it is the sense of having felt that someone important was pleased with your work for as simple as it may seems.

I think I'll keep this point to internalize that I'm able to achieve anything i want wherever i want. So can you. :)

If I make public my discontent with my parents in the following lines, it’s just because the course of the words wanted that way. Otherwise, ignore this.

Since we moved into this house (where I currently live and have hosted most of my dreams for 13 years now) I’ve been sharing the same room with my brother. Yes, difficult –even more if you haven’t decided to be part of the “Staying in” group with Ellie Goulding and Zöe Graham or the “Going out” gang with Sophia Green and Emily Labelle, heehee doesn't mean that i'm shallow-. We had changed the color of it. Many times, indeed. But always remained a neutral factor between my tastes and his, who is a football fan and more than once he had tried to sneak an occasional poster. I've known how to arrest the situation, reminding him that in addition to several privations, I also hold that he’s way too messy and finding harmony is always as hard as you think. Ever since, I’d pushed ourselves in working towards keeping things in perfect balance, but we end up with boring results. My mom says that, right now, I’m having a "postpartum" kind of feeling about my room. The only "window" relief has been a cork, loosely I could not fill with anything, so I decided to put my little treasures on and show you the secrets hidden in drawers, handbag, stereos and closet.

... because it would be crazy to imagine that all of these is what I always carry in my bag, you would think I have one like Harry Potter's or walk with a suitcase everywhere. But hey, I take some of them most of the time for obvious reasons.

1.- My Ipod: Was my first big buy. Has been (and hopefully will be) my best companion since 4th semester in college.

6.- 7.- 8.- Harajuku Lovers notebook, Marc Jacobs lipstick shaped pen and W Magazine with Mila Kunis on the cover (another gift for my 26th birthday). I rather this kind of presents that clothing or anything you might think I would wear. All of them from the same friend.

11. Vogue Paris: Carine’s last second issue to end an era. I’m considering this the last one from her to us, just because I didn’t like the last one so much. Yes, was probably a view or an opening for what Emmanuelle has planned to the future of the magazine, or a lovely vision of what the development of french Vogue was in ten years –if we remember the first one with Kate Moss in similar photo cover-. Anyway, if we have the chance to creat of our endings in movies, I’ll chose mine in this subject.

12. Postcards from the MALBA (Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires).

The hefty catalogue of the exhibit was recently distributed, and it features new glorious photos of some of the late designer's most glorious pieces. The book also includes Tim Blanks's interview with McQueen's successor, Sarah Burton — one of the most extensive that's been conducted to date.

I was proving that you can weare the same piece of clothing everyday, you just have to be creative. As Mrs. Wintour said, "I usually wear the same dress twenty times. I think it's always fun to have something new, but it doesn't mean that everything you already have in your closet has to be thrown out, you know? Recycle." And Vivienne has also a very punk opinion about it (happy birthday, btw):

It has always seemed a cliché to me talking about Kate Moss on the blog, because everybody craves in loving or hating her, by her actions or sense of style. These past days I came across with this short film made for Longchamp and I must say that I fell in love right away ... I'm still not sure if it's for the vibe á-la Brigitte Bardot / Jane Birkin or the music ("Sand" by Nancy Sinatra feat. Lee Hazlewood), but I'm sure that anyone could do this better than her, because who doesn't get carried away by her moves every time she goes dancing in a video?

FUNNY: Behind our press pass was specified the agenda of the days at the BAF WEEK, including shows, time and place. Obviously I looked at it and decided that Sarkany show wasn't counting with my humble presence for many reasons.

Minutes before, I told my crew that i wasn't fully excited about attending Ricky's show and Andre, who worked as correspondent for E!OnlineLatino.com came to me with her stories backstage, "You have to come in! It looks interesting and exciting... Adding the super staging." So I changed my mind and went down to the s***, the shock was not finding a sit, because there weren't any available, a rock band upstaris, a blond sassy drag queen wearing a long black sequined dress with a blonde curly wig and teen stars all around (I knew like... no one? Which i think was great! I could've slapped on the face all of girls outside hihihi).

I must say... The show was great, as a S.H.O.W, I repeat ... Beyond the collection! A ~~copy~~ mixture of all that we already saw few season ago in the U.S. and Europe, such as Roberto Cavalli; to a Boom-Boom-Pow kind of items (bathing suits, handbags and shoes with light bulbs in a dark frame ... VERY alike of Black Eyed Peas video). "Nice ending of day one", i thought.

The Lookbook for the Spring-Summer 2011 collection is like that special thing that people say, like best thing about dreams is that fleeting moment, when you are between asleep and awake, when you don't know the difference between reality and fantasy, when for just that one moment you feel with your entire soul that the dream is reality, and it really happened. I'm sure i already did a post under this title, but i'm freaking out: NEXT FRIDAY I'LL BE FLYING TO BUENOS AIRES (Argentina) AND NO CAMARA IN MY POCKET, NOR EVEN IDEA OF WHAT I'M GOING TO WEAR THE DAYS OF BAF WEEK. So, i've been checking a few collections to get some inspiration, perhaps Sjaak Hullekes, a dutch designer that I have followed from almost 3 years now , it is the perfect blend of classical and wearable pieces with modern twists on cuts and styling.

Take a look at his collection for Spring 2011, which i think is more summer-ysh. With a palette of colors ranging from brown, navy to a some kind of burnt butter, mustard, pale pink, white and black accents. The super short shorts (Not these that i picked, these are more "normal") are those hilarious items that also distinguish the aesthetics of Hullekes' interpratation of fashion, because it adds a feminine flair, making his collections even more interesting. This happens all the time, i remember one time he approached ballerina shoes for men when nobody had done it before.

presentation, showed at Institut Neérlandais last January while Men's Fashion Week in Paris. In this case, the feminine touches surrendered to the technological ones.

Have you ever wondered how your favorite characteres end up? I mean, years after the painful or joyful end of the movie? Well, this weekend while watching Pretty in Pink, i got the idea of putting together some outfits to Andie and so a story (a bit cliché, but HEY! It's a romantic comedy... I'm completely allowed).

As we all know, the (by then) adorable Duckie was pushed aside and Andie ran into Blane's arms -Delete on the fact that he had an affair with another fashonie, Victory from Lipstick Jungle. You all know that he, Andrew McCarthy portrayed Joe Bennett's role, right? So, let's supposed that they married each other after years of being sweethearts and the "divorced tradition" never was taken as part of the script.

She took her scholarship and went to NYU where she studied Arts, while Blane got the chance of Economics in Harvard. Then, they moved to London, looking for something more neutral (My God! I'm typing another's hideous person crappy song). She became stylist, despite her craftyness, and not a designer as we expected.

Street Style stalkers made her a favourite and we love her so. Here some snaps i like the most.
